Running, cookies, and lipstick

Most important things first: running! This week, 58 miles on tap, and here’s what it looked like. There’s an 8 miler at 7:47 (Allison and I did this run together, side by side on treadmills (no photo of that). We ran at her gym, mainly so we could get in some chatting time in person before work. I really don’t know anyone else I can bug to run with me at 5am. I am grateful.

Also, my Garmin is being a ding-dong. So, sometimes (ok, nearly everyday), I do an out and back (and I even run a little extra because I know my time will be “off”) and I get home and it’ll tell me I still need to run .12 or .15 or .20, which makes me crazy. I always do it anyway because I feel like….well. I need even numbers! However, check out Allison’s versus my Garmin from our 22 mile run on Saturday! Step in step the whole time and I’m still coming up .20 short. Sad. After 22 miles though, I said that’s enough of that!

photo-82This week, I had a couple of clients after work, which meant a bit of running then, too!

I decided to make these delicious Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies, because, let’s face it: I burned a bunch of calories. How better to restore glycogen? :) They are gluten, dairy and refined sugar free. I use a really dark chocolate, 85% or more.

DSC_0997They were so good and fluffy! I used Trader Joe’s All Purpose Gluten Free flour. Kim at Domestocrat picked it up for me to try. I highly recommend it, especially for this recipe! Oh yes, I used coconut sugar for these, instead of white sugar.

I also made chicken soup. Probably self explanatory. I put parsnips in it, and it’s starting to taste like fall!

DSC_1007And finally, I have a few favorite things that I’m loving for fall, which are all under $20!

DSC_1003First, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Craving. This is such a great plummy pink! It’s $15. I love the Amplified Lipsticks because they’re so saturated with color. Pair this with some eyeliner and you’re good to go. It’s my fastest way to get ready for work in the morning.

Next, Revlon Lip Butter in Fig Jam. I picked this up for $7.99 at CVS, but they’re often on sale and you can find them at Target even cheaper. This looks really dark, I know, but it’s actually a sheer plum-brown (similar to Clinique Black Honey). I’m kind of loving the 90s makeup thing that’s happening again. I feel like this is a modern 90s lip.

I got these really pretty hair ties at Anthropologie for $12 (there are more varieties available in the store). I love that you can wear them as bracelets when you’re not wearing them in your hair! I bought this pack because I really loved the glitter one and the purple with the bow.

Finally, this Kuumba Made perfume oil in Amber & Sandalwood. You can order these online or find them in Whole Foods (one that has a Whole Body section). It’s a skin scent, smells really delicious and a little hippie, and will only set you back about $9. To me, this is the quintessential autumn scent. It’s smoky, warm and inviting.

Happy Sunday and I hope you kick off your week in the best way possible! And if you’re running this week – happy trails!
